John Allen was born and brought up in Aberdeen. He was HM inspector of Factories and in construction and oil industry. He manufactured metal model soldiers for wargaming. He will describe the development of naval bases in Scotland prior to the Second World War., the potential supply routes., the importance of Loch Ewe, the destruction of the Tirpitz and U boats surrender at Kyle. John will then look at the cost/benefit Loch Ewe today.
