The Remembrance Day Poppy and our debt to Lady Haig, Dr Natasha Danilova: As Remembrance Day approaches, University of Aberdeen academic Dr Danilova returns to our u3a to tell the real story behind the enduring contribution of Lady Dorothy Haig -the wife of Field Marshal Earl Haig. In 1926 she founded a poppy factory in Scotland and for almost 100 years it has been helping to support disabled veterans and provide them with paid employment after their time in the Armed Forces. We shall hear the story behind Lady Haig’s poppy factory which is now an essential charity working to support veterans.
